Volgograd will host International Film Festival dedicated to the Great Patriotic War

From May 15 to 17 the II International film festival of movies about the Great Patriotic War -"Stalingrad lilac” - will be held in Volgograd.

The main idea of the film forum is to look at the problem of war and man at war in various aspects by means of cinema.

The festival screenings will include four film programmes that will embrace documentary and feature films about the war, created in different years by Russian and foreign directors. The movies featured at "Stalingrad lilac"-2014 are made both by renowned masters whose names are known all over the world and young filmmakers who are just starting out their career.

The Film forum programme will include epic battle movies and chamber psychological drama showing the war in the air ("Torpedo carriers", "Moving over") and at sea ("Gunpowder", "Summer Trip to the Sea"), at the front ("Go and See") and behind the enemy line ("Propaganda Team "Beat the enemy!").

The author’s films by A. Sokurov prized at many international festivals, the films by E. Klimov, S. Aranovich, A. Rogozhkin, V. Bortko recreate the "breath" of war and heroism of soldiers and officers who took part in it.

This year the films that are part of the programme of the film forum “Stalingrad lilac” may be viewed not not only by grown-ups but by children, too – for children some special screenings will be organized.

The most important task of the Film festival is to create interest and inspire the younger generation by means of the best military and historical films that evoke high moral and patriotic feelings.

The II International film fesrtival "Stalingrad lilac" will be held with the support of Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation, the Governor and the Government of Volgograd region, the Ministry of Culture of Volgograd region.

Admission to seminars, round table discussions, master classes will be by invitations, to film screenings - free.
